The Rare Genomics Institute is hosting a webinar March 30th at 1 PM EDT / 10 AM PDT (USA Time) on our 2015 BeHEARD competition, which is awarding over $600,000 worth of technology grants to rare disease researchers and foundations. During the webinar, BeHEARD Director Arvin Gouw, Ph.D., will help potential applicants learn more about the Rare Genomics Institute, explain the steps in the application process, and give tips on how to write a successful research proposal. Jill Wood, the founder of Jonah’s Just Begun, and one of the winners of the 2013 BeHEARD competition, will discuss her application experience and how she used her technology grant to support research on Sanfilippo Syndrome. Taconic Biosciences, the 2015 BeHEARD corporate sponsor, will also provide an overview of the CRISPR mouse model they are sponsoring (worth over $50,000), as an example of how our prizes can be used in rare disease research. All presenters will be happy to answer any questions on the application process or the technologies during the webinar.
