Jimmy Lin, PhD

MD/PhD Candidate at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine

Jimmy is the lead computational biologist for the ground-breaking cancer genome sequencing efforts from the Vogelstein Lab at Johns Hopkins. Their sequencing of the first 100+ cancer exomes in 5 different tissue types has helped lay the foundation for a revolution in cancer genomics.

Scott Taing
Scott Taing

Bioinformatics Researcher, Harvard School of Public Health

Scott is the data curator for the modENCODE chromatin group through the Lui Lab of the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard School of Public Health. His interests are developing systems and tools to handle analysis and visualize the genomics dada. He did graduate level work at Johns Hopkins and Nanjing University and holds a bachelor from Yale University.

Imran A. Babar, PhD
Imran A. Babar, PhD

Molecular Biology PhD, Yale University

Imran completed his PhD in Molecular Biology in Dr. Frank Slack's lab at Yale University. For his thesis he researched microRNAs as both causes and treatments for cancers using mouse models and human cancer cell lines. While at Yale Imran was a Howard Hughes Fellow, Harvey Fellow, and a fellow for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting for young scholars. Prior to Yale, Imran completed his BA in Biology at Carleton College and conducted research at MIT and NIH.

Daniel Estevez Prado
Daniel Estevez Prado

Biochemist, BMEP Fellow, Yale University

Daniel completed his professional training in computer science, received a B.Sc. in Biochemistry from the University of Technology in Munich, studied Medicinal Chemistry at the Open University, and Structural Molecular Biology at the Birkbeck College, University of London. He joined the Yale School of Medicine as a BMEP fellow in 2009 and will soon start at the King's College London as a postgraduate student in Molecular Biophysics.

Jonathan Franca-Koh, PhD
Jonathan Franca-Koh, PhD

Staff Scientist at the J. Craig Venter Institute

Jonathan received his BSc and PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of London. He subsequently joined the laboratory of Peter Devreotes at Johns Hopkins University as a post-doctoral fellow to research cell migration and chemotaxis. He is currently a Staff Scientist at the J. Craig Venter Institute and an MBA student at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School.

Naira C. Rezende
Naira C. Rezende

Ph.D. Candidate at Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences

Naira is currently concluding her PhD in Molecular Biology at Weill Cornell, where she studies stem cells. During her tenure at Cornell, Naira was a fellow of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and a Science and Technology Policy Fellow at the National Academy of Sciences, where she works with the Committee on Science, Technology and Law.

Michael Lee
Michael Lee

MD/JD Candidate, Yale Law School and Washington University School of Medicine

As an MD/JD candidate, Mike is specifically interested in the intersection of medicine and law--and especially in health care finance. Michael wrote his thesis on the Affordable Care Act of 2010, the landmark health reform bill, and has written and spoken publicly on the highly controversial statute. He has also consulted for the Department of Homeland Security on bioterrorism, worked in a law firm on Medicare compliance issues, served as a teaching assistant in statistics and economics, and served as the editor-in-chief of the Yale Journal of Health Policy, Law, and Ethics.

Junior Doctor, Malaysia Government Hospital

Mun is currently working as a junior doctor for a government hospital in Malaysia. He graduated from Manipal University, India with Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS). He has worked as a research assistant in a variety of organizations, including a non-governmental organization working with refugees, the Department of Opthalmology at the CASE Western Reserve School of Medicine, and the Department of Pathology at Johns Hopkins Hospital. At RGI, he is responsible for site development in Malaysia and Singapore.

Her thesis work involved the examination of how herpesviruses avoid the human immune response. She has also conducted research in various other fields at UCSF, MIT and Singapore's Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology. Meisha holds undergraduate degrees in Biology and Music from MIT.

She has several years of operational and strategy experience from scientific and business development positions at HistoRx (a Yale biotech startup) and Quintiles.

He has studied at Harvard and Columbia Universities.
