Our Volunteer Teams

The Rare Genomics Institute is a non-profit organization that relies on volunteers who are passionate about making a difference in the rare disease landscape. RGI is organized into three teams:

Patient Advocacy Team

Our patient advocates are on the front lines of rare disease research. Advocates guide patients through every step of the RGI process and conduct patient education and outreach. This is a great opportunity for someone who would like to make a difference by engaging directly with the people RGI helps.

Scientific Team

Our scientific team builds the infrastructure that connects patients to research sites and helps them find diagnoses, therapies, and cures. Different opportunities on the team include providing scientific consultations for patients, managing projects, and leading the overall scientific direction of the organization. For a complete list of opportunities, please click here.

Business Team

The business team plays a key role in allowing RGI to maximize impact. The team supervises internal operations such as accounting, business development, and fundraising, as well as external operations such as marketing and PR. If you are excited about using your business expertise to leverage the impact of scientists in rare disease research, this is an ideal opportunity for you.
