The Executive Director is responsible for overall management of day-to-day operations of the organization according to the strategic direction set by the President and Board of Directors, in a manner consistent with the mission and vision of RGI. Volunteer Opportunities

Finance Associate

The Finance Associate will be charged with monitoring the financial components of the organization. In addition to experience creating and managing budgets, the ideal candidate will have successfully penned grants and proposals and have participated in fundraising events.

Operations Associate

The Operations Associate will be responsible for tending to various aspects of the operations of RGI to help ensure continued functioning of RGI including, but not limited to, HR-related activities, ensuring adherence to organizational policies and procedures, and managing operations projects. This position requires excellent organizational skills as well as flexibility, as the Associate will be expected to switch projects and tasks according to the needs of the organization.

Our Volunteer Teams

Rare Genomics Institute is a non-profit organization – people joined together who are passionate about making a difference in the rare disease landscape. RGI is organized into three teams:

Patient Advocacy Team

Our patient advocates are on the front lines walking with patients on their journey every step of the way. If you like to make a difference helping patients in a very direct way, this will be a great opportunity for you. In addition, our patient advocate team is also involved in patient education.

Scientific Team

The scientists on this team build the infrastructure that helps connect patients to research sites and helps them find diagnoses, therapies, and cures. There different opportunities involve scientific advise, to managing projects, to leading the overall scientific direction of the organization. For the different opportunities, please click here.

Business Team

Besides the scientists and advocates, what enables the organization to function and be maximize impact is the business team. This includes internal operations such as accounting, business development, fundraising, as well as external operations such as marketing and PR. If you are excited about using the business expertise to make leverage the impact of scientists to affect rare diseases, this would be a great opportunity for you.
